Take Note: Important Update to Interac e-Transfer Security Questions

Interac has released a new update to the e-Transfer tool, which may require you to update your security questions for your recipients.

If you have not updated the security questions and answers since September 20, 2018, you will be required to update this information before proceeding with the e-Transfer.

If prompted, you will need to change the answer to the security question or create an entirely new question and answer.

Please note that any security questions and answers that have not been updated by September 1, 2019, will be deleted by Interac, at which point you will be forced to reset this information.

INTERAC e-Transfer† is a fast and secure way to transfer funds. With INTERAC e-Transfer you can send, receive or request a transfer, anytime, anywhere using online banking or Implicity’s mobile app. All you need to know is your recipient's email address or mobile phone number.

New INTERAC e-Transfer features

Request Money

Now you can request the money that you are owed with INTERAC e-Transfer Request Money feature. To send a request simply:

  1. Log in to online banking and select transfers.
  2. Navigate to Request Interac e-Transfer.
  3. Select a recipient, enter a dollar amount and the account where you want the funds deposited.
  4. Click request and confirm.

That’s it! Once your request has been fulfilled and the funds have been deposited, you will receive a notification.


With Autodeposit, you can register your email with Interac and any money that is sent to you via INTERAC e-Transfer is automatically deposited directly into your account without having to answer a security question. To register:

  1. Log in to online banking and select transfers.
  2. Navigate to Send or Request Interac e-Transfer and select Autodeposit.
  3. Complete the registration form, select register and done.
  4. You will receive an email from Interac to complete your registration.

Once you have registered for Autodeposit, you will still be notified via email when funds are deposited into your account.
